For engineers, designers, and procurement specialists across countless industries, selecting the right high-performance material is critical. When applications demand exceptional chemical resistance, a wide operational temperature range, and a low coefficient of friction, one material consistently stands out: Polytetrafluoroethylene, universally known as PTFE. At Kaxite Sealing, we specialize in manufacturing premium-grade PTFE sheets that are engineered to deliver reliability, durability, and performance in the most demanding environments. Our commitment to precision manufacturing and rigorous quality control ensures that every sheet meets the exact specifications required for your critical applications.
A PTFE sheet is a flat, semi-finished product made from Polytetrafluoroethylene, a synthetic fluoropolymer. It is created through processes like compression molding or isostatic pressing of fine PTFE resin powders. The resulting sheet material is renowned for its unique combination of properties, making it an indispensable component in industries ranging from chemical processing and food & beverage to aerospace and pharmaceuticals. Its inherent non-stick characteristic and outstanding dielectric properties further broaden its utility across electrical and consumer applications.
Kaxite Sealing provides a versatile range of PTFE sheets tailored to specific application needs. Below are the detailed specifications for our standard Virgin PTFE Sheet offering.

What is the main difference between molded and skived PTFE sheets?
Molded PTFE sheets are produced by compressing resin in a mold under high pressure, resulting in a block that is then machined. They are isotropic (uniform properties in all directions) and ideal for machining complex parts. Skived PTFE sheets are made by calendering a paste extrudate into a block and then "skiving" or shaving thin, continuous sheets from it. Skived sheets offer superior dimensional consistency for thin gauges and are excellent for sealing applications like gaskets.
Can Kaxite Sealing PTFE sheets be used for high-pressure applications?
While PTFE has excellent chemical and thermal properties, virgin PTFE is susceptible to "creep" or cold flow under sustained heavy loads. For high-pressure static sealing applications, it is crucial to design the joint properly with adequate flange pressure. For dynamic applications involving high pressures, we strongly recommend our reinforced PTFE sheets (e.g., glass or carbon-filled), which exhibit significantly improved resistance to deformation and creep under load.
Are your PTFE sheets suitable for outdoor or UV-exposed applications?
Standard virgin PTFE has limited resistance to prolonged UV exposure and can experience slight degradation over extended periods. For outdoor applications, we advise selecting our carbon-filled PTFE sheets, which contain UV stabilizers and offer much better resistance to weathering and sunlight. Alternatively, the component can be designed to shield the PTFE from direct UV exposure.
How do I machine or fabricate parts from a PTFE sheet?
PTFE is a soft, ductile material that is generally easy to machine using standard workshop tools. However, its low thermal conductivity requires sharp tools, moderate speeds, and adequate cooling (often with compressed air) to prevent overheating and gumminess. For clean cuts and precise dimensions, use sharp carbide-tipped tools. Kaxite Sealing can also provide custom pre-fabricated parts machined to your exact drawings from our sheet stock.
What certifications do Kaxite Sealing PTFE sheets carry?
Our quality management system is certified to ISO 9001:2015. Our virgin PTFE sheets are produced using resins that comply with FDA 21 CFR 177.1550 for food contact. Specific grades are also compliant with USP Class VI for medical applications and 3-A Sanitary Standards for dairy equipment. Certificates of Compliance and Material Test Reports are available upon request to ensure traceability and quality assurance for your projects.
How should PTFE sheets be stored and handled?
PTFE sheets should be stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. They should be kept flat and supported to prevent bending or warping, especially for thinner sheets. While PTFE is chemically inert, it is advisable to keep it clean from surface contaminants like dirt or grease before fabrication to ensure optimal performance in the final application.
Can PTFE sheets be bonded or welded together?
Due to its non-stick properties, bonding PTFE is challenging. Standard adhesives do not adhere well. For permanent bonding, specialized processes like sodium etching (chemical treatment of the surface) or the use of high-temperature, PTFE-compatible adhesives are required. PTFE can also be heat-welded using specialized hot gas or contact welding techniques. For most sealing applications, however, gaskets are cut from a single sheet, or mechanical clamping is used, eliminating the need for bonding.
